“I created this product after noticing that there was a gap in the beverage sector. There was no healthy alternative to soda, juice, and other sugary beverages,” says Priscilla. Our first customer was at the Organic Farmers Market. Here we give samples, and tasters and interact with customers who continue to give feedback about their love for Mohawk. She adds.
Origin of the Name
Mohawk was inspired by the adventurous spirit of a lion that once roared on the lower plains of Nairobi National Park. Many visitors were awed at its majestic height and pride. Sadly it was killed in a human-wildlife conflict. We loved it and thus named our brand in its memory.

Mission and Vision
Priscilla envisions a state-of-the-art Kombucha brewing facility that will help the company brew and distribute Kombucha to households in East Africa and beyond. She sees Kombucha as a whole family beverage enjoyed by both young and old and believes that it’s only a matter of time before they disrupt the beverage sector. “My ambition is to build a big industry around food and to be a go-to business and growing authority on fermented foods and beverages. We, therefore, invest time and resources in training so that we can achieve this,” Priscilla says.
Process of making
The process begins with brewing a blend of the best green and purple teas and other select botanicals from Kenya. Our proprietary SCOBY is introduced to start the magic of fermentation. This requires careful monitoring and a great deal of patience. Once the process is finished, the final product is flavored accordingly and bottled to await more flavors and natural carbonation to develop.
